Susan Spicer is a definitive New Orleans chef. Beginning her career working under esteemed chefs such as Daniel Bonnot and Roland Durand in Paris, Spicer developed her global palette traveling extensively in California and Europe. Returning to New Orleans, Susan took the helm at Savoire Faire and Bistro Maison before partnering with Regina Keever to open Bayona in the spring of 1990. With unwavering support from local diners and critics alike, Bayona soon earned national attention and has been featured in numerous publications.
In 2007 Spicer published Crescent City Cooking: Unforgettable Recipes from Susan Spicer’s New Orleans which was nominated by the International Association of Culinary Professionals for Best American Cookbook, awarded Best New Cookbook byNew Orleans Magazine , and was also included in Food & Wine’s Best of the Best recipe collection.
In May of 2010 Susan was inducted into the James Beard Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America. The same year she launched Mondo, a casual, family-style restaurant which opened in Chef Spicer’s neighborhood of 20 years, Lakeview. Her latest restaurant Rosedale, opened in late 2016, pairs classic Southern dining with craft cocktails, beer and wine.
