Guests from around the country will be treated to “Flavors of New Orleans” at premier party of Super Bowl week.
Taste of the NFL, a non-profit organization that joins the country’s best chefs with the NFL’s greatest for hunger relief, announces it will feature the “Flavors of New Orleans” at its 22nd Annual Party with a Purpose® that takes place Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at the New Orleans Convention Center. Seven of New Orleans’ best known chefs have been invited to give guests a sampling of some of the Big Easy’s finest fare and join 32 Taste of the NFL chefs, one from each NFL city, who will serve up signature dishes from their region alongside a current or former NFL player.
A special feature of this year’s Party with a Purpose event, the Flavors of New Orleans showcases the culinary talent and distinct flavors of New Orleans. Participating chefs include:
• Chef John Folse and Chef Rick Tramonto of Restaurant R’evolution
• Chef Justin Devillier of La Petite Grocery
• Chef Susan Spicer of Bayona
• Chef Sean Daigle and Chef Keith Faulkner of Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiania
• Chef Stephan Blaser of Centerplate at the New Orleans Convention Center
These renowned chefs will serve up regional specialties such as R’evolution Truffled Debris Po’Boys (R’evolution) and Local Citrus Gastrique Strawberry Beignets (Centerplate) among many other culinary delights. In addition, Chef Tory McPhail of famed Commander’s Palace is the chef representative for the New Orleans’ Saints. He will be stationed alongside former Saints’ kicker Morten Andersen serving up Spicy “Crawfish Boil” Gnocchi.
“New Orleans provides the perfect backdrop for our annual fundraiser that lets guests sample cuisine from around the country, including the best of the best from the area, all for a good cause,” said Wayne Kostroski, founder of Taste of the NFL. “We are so grateful to the generous support of the New Orleans restaurants and chefs who have joined our team to help us in our mission to kick hunger.”
R’evolution, La Petite Grocery, Bayona and Commander’s Palace are also participants in the Taste of the NFL Dinner Series with special events taking place at their restaurants during the NFL season to raise funds for Second Harvest.
The 2013 Party with a Purpose event is made possible through the generosity of Taste of the NFL sponsors E & J Gallo, Uptown Network American Family Insurance, Louisiana Seafood, Pernod Ricard, Tabasco and Crescent Crown Distributing.
