Author and Food Network star will be onsite to meet guests at The Party with a Purpose® on the eve of the big game.
Ted Allen, the Emmy-award winning host of Chopped on Food Network, has been tapped as culinary host of Taste of the NFL’s 21st annual fundraising event taking place on Saturday, Feb. 4 at Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana. One of the most popular tickets of Super Bowl week, the “Party with a Purpose®” pairs the best chefs from each NFL city with current and legendary NFL players to raise money in support of food banks throughout the United States.
As culinary host of Taste of the NFL’s Super Bowl party, Allen will showcase the many chefs involved in the event along with their signature dishes. He will also be on hand to meet and greet guests throughout the evening. Allen, who grew up in Carmel, Ind., is well known for his past roles as a judge on Bravo’s Top Chef and Food Network’s Iron Chef America and as the food and wine specialist on the groundbreaking Bravo series Queer Eye. He is also a contributing writer to Esquire magazine, the author of The Food You Want to Eat: 100 Smart, Simple Recipes (Clarkson-Potter) and co-author of the New York Times best-seller Queer Eye for the Straight Guy: The Fab Five’s Guide to Looking Better, Cooking Better, Dressing Better, Behaving Better, and Living Better.

Allen joins another notable special guest with ties to the region. Former Indianapolis Colts Coach Tony Dungy is Taste of the NFL’s National Honorary Chair and will be in attendance at the event. Since his retirement as coach in 2009, Dungy has served as an analyst on NBC’s Sunday Night Football pregame show, as well as authored several best-selling books in recent years.
