With the New England Patriots Super Bowl-bound, renowned celebrity Chef Steve DiFillippo of Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse and Patriots great Matt Light are preparing to represent the Seahawks at the 24th Annual Taste of the NFL Party with a Purpose®, held on the eve of Super Bowl XLIX on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. Tickets to the Party with a Purpose® are available for purchase at www.TasteoftheNFL.com. For the fourth year in a row, Chef DiFillippo will showcase his culinary talents at the star-studded event as he serves up his signature hand-rolled potato gnocchi with braised veal, beef, pork and tomato sauce with the assistance of NFL player representative, Matt Light. Chef DiFillippo and Light join top chefs from all 32 NFL markets and the NFL's greatest players at the Party with a Purpose® to raise money in support of food banks throughout the United States. Every dollar raised allows food banks to distribute up to eight meals into communities across the U.S. Chef DiFillippo’s season-long fundraising efforts will benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank, which is the largest hunger-relief organization in New England and among the largest food banks in the country. Last year, they distributed 48 million pounds of food, enough to provide healthy meals to as many as 545,000 people. “We’re excited to represent our New England Patriots as they gear up for Super Bowl XLIX, but more importantly, we’re excited to help raise more awareness and money for food banks like the Greater Boston Food Bank through our efforts with the Taste of the NFL,” said DiFillippo. This year’s Party with a Purpose fundraising event brings together exceptional cuisine, prominent chefs from around the country, former NFL greats, coaches, legends, celebrities and GRAMMY® award-winning country group, Little Big Town, all in an effect to support the fight against hunger. Andrew Zimmern, the creator, host and co-executive producer of Travel Channel’s hit series, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, is this year’s national culinary host for the Party with a Purpose®. This friendly “competition” pits fans from all 32 NFL teams against each other to raise money for their local food banks in NFL communities nationwide. Throughout the 2014-15 football season, fans will have the opportunity to support one of the 32 NFL teams and directly impact the donation of thousands of meals to food banks in their team’s community. ABOUT CHEF STEVE DIFILLIPPO “After 25 years I feel that I am just getting started.” says Davio’s Chef/CEO, Steve DiFillippo. At the age of 24, DiFillippo purchased an established restaurant called Davio’s in Boston’s Back Bay. This was the first in a succession of popular restaurants as he changed the concept to a Northern Italian Steakhouse. He is a graduate of Boston University and the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts. DiFillippo is very involved in the community, serving on several non-profit boards and in 2008, he was inducted into the Massachusetts Restaurant Hall of Fame. ABOUT MATT LIGHT Matt Light spent his entire 11-year career playing offensive tackle for the New England Patriots. During his illustrious playing career, he was named to the Football News 2001 NFL All-Rookie Team, was a three-time Pro Bowl player and played on three Super Bowl-winning teams. He founded the Matt Light Foundation, which offers young people unique outdoor learning opportunities to help them become responsible members of their communities.
