TASTE OF THE NFL (TNFL), a 501c3 organization, today announced that Phoenix-based Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), a global electronic components and enterprise IT solutions distributor, has signed on as the organization’s first Arizona Hunger Champion, an exclusive team of four community sponsor-partners committed to TNFL’s goal of hunger relief in America. As an Arizona Hunger Champion, Avnet and its employees and partners have committed to help fight hunger in Arizona as well as other communities where they do business. To celebrate the new partnership and kick off internal programs, Avnet’s Arizona-based employees donated 2,887 pounds of food, along with cash donations of $2,847 as part of a recent employee event. This donation will be delivered to St. Mary’s Food Bank and provide approximately 22,816 meals to feed Arizona’s hungry. “Avnet employees are passionate about assisting those in need in our communities,” said Michelle Gorel, vice president, Corporate Communications, Avnet, Inc. “Partnering with Taste of the NFL gives us a chance to showcase our commitment to helping others on a national scale. Andrew Zimmern has joined TNFL as this year’s national culinary host for its Party with a Purpose® to assist in rallying the country’s top chefs to raise awareness and money. Zimmern, the creator, host and co-executive producer of Travel Channel’s hit series, Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern, will lead the charge along side national celebrity spokesperson, Alyssa Milano.
