Player Spotlight: Andre Reed, Buffalo Bills

Andre Reed played 15 seasons at wide receiver for the Buffalo Bills, the team he will be representing at this year’s Party With a Purpose in New Orleans alongside Chef Mike Andrzejewski of Seabar. Reed played in four Super Bowls, is ranked tenth in NFL history in total career receptions and eleventh in NFL history in career touchdown receptions. Reed, a rookie at our event, has followed a decorated NFL career with a successful philanthropic outreach through his foundation, the Andre Reed Foundation. We look forward to spending time with Reed at our event this year!

Q: What have you been up to following your football career? A: My focus has been on raising my children and giving back to the community through the creation of the Andre Reed Foundation. Q: What is your favorite Super Bowl memory? A: Standing on the sidelines of Super Bowl XXV during the height of the Gulf War mesmerized by Whitney Houston’s version of The Star-Spangled Banner. The Air Force jets flew over; it was moving. Q: Which NFL team did you grow up cheering for? A: Pittsburgh Steelers Q: Which teams have a shot at making it to the Super Bowl this year? A: The league is so competitive that any team can make it. Q: Can you think of a significant way the game has changed since you were in the NFL?

A: Protecting the players has become a major focus of the league; rules like no helmet to helmet contact and hits on defenseless players didn’t exist when I was playing.

Q: Which current receiver reminds you most of yourself during your career? A: Larry Fitzgerald Q: Do you have one touchdown memory (among the 87 in your career) that stands out more than the others, if so—which one? A: I enjoyed every one. Q: How did you get involved with Taste of the NFL? A: Through the Andre Reed Foundation. We were looking to become involved in the fight against hunger. Q: What do you think you will enjoy most about being involved with Taste of the NFL?

A: I enjoy the charitable aspect of it.

Q: Why should fans attend Taste of the NFL in New Orleans this year? A: It’s an experience, you get to be a part of the NFL family.
