Taste Of The NFL Event Announces 2013 Roster Of Chefs And Players
Eleven Pro Football Hall of Fame players and several world-renowned chefs will be onsite at the Super Bowl party that raises funds and awareness for hunger relief.
The Taste of the NFL, a non-profit organization dedicated to kicking hunger in America, announces its complete roster of chefs and players representing each NFL city who will participate in its 22nd annual “Party with a Purpose” taking place Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at the New Orleans Convention Center. The strolling food and wine event pairs a well known chef from each NFL market with a current or former NFL player to give guests the opportunity to sample fine cuisine, meet nationally-recognized chefs and rub elbows with NFL all-stars. Proceeds benefit hunger relief in NFL cities nationwide. “We are extremely proud of the Taste of the NFL team we have drafted for this year’s event, including several Pro Football Hall of Fame players and current NFL players who will be paired with an unsurpassed lineup of chefs representing the best restaurants from NFL cities nationwide,” said Wayne Kostroski, founder of Taste of the NFL. “Our Super Bowl party will be the best restaurant in town on Feb. 2 and give guests the opportunity to mix and mingle with some of the greatest players in the history of the NFL.” Highlights from this year’s Taste of the NFL roster: • 2013 rookie Taste of the NFL player representatives: include Andre Reed, Buffalo Bills; current player Jeff Byers, Carolina Panthers; current player Thomas Howard, Cincinnati Bengals; Tim Brown, National Football League; current player Austen Lane, Jacksonville Jaguars; John Offerdahl, Miami Dolphins; Steve Grogan, New England Patriots; John Lynch, Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Drew Pearson, Dallas Cowboys. • The rookie player list also includes four Pro Football Hall of Fame players including Lem Barney representing the Detroit Lions,Ted Hendricks representing the Oakland Raiders, Dave Wilcox representing the San Francisco 49ers and Roger Wehrli representing the Arizona Cardinals. They join seven other Hall of Fame players including Paul Warfield representing the Cleveland Browns, Floyd Little representing the Denver Broncos, Bobby Bell representing the Kansas City Chiefs, Randall McDaniel for the Minnesota Vikings, Kellen Winslow representing the San Diego Chargers, Jack Youngblood for the St. Louis Rams and Joe Delamielleure representing the Pro Hall of Fame. Taste of the NFL 2013 Chef and Player Roster • 2013 rookie chef representatives include: Chef Deb Pacquette of Etch Restaurant for the Tennessee Titans, Chef Kamal Rose of Tribeca Grill for the New York Giants and Chef Mike Andrzejewski of Seabar and Seabar Sushi for the Buffalo Bills. • Two chefs on the Taste of the NFL roster have been with the organization since 1992. Allen Susser of Chef Allen’s in Miami and Jack McDavid of Jack’s Firehouse in Philadelphia, are the longest-running Taste of the NFL chefs. Both have participated each year since 1992. Their original player representatives, Dick Anderson of the Miami Dolphins Alum and Philadelphia Eagles Alum Jerry Sisemore have also been with Taste of the NFL each year. • In addition to 32 food stations featuring a chef and player representing each NFL city, this year’s event will include a “Flavors of New Orleans” section. Seven New Orleans chefs have been selected to showcase the distinct flavors of New Orleans. These chefs include Chef John Folse and Chef Rick Tramonto of Restaurant R’evolution, Chef Justin Devillier of La Petite Grocery, Chef Susan Spicer of Bayona, Chef Sean Daigle and Chef Keith Faulkner of Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiania and Chef Stephan Blaser of Centerplate at the New Orleans Convention Center. Highlights of this year’s “Party with a Purpose” include live entertainment and special appearances by the newly-crowned Miss America, chef Andrew Zimmern and stars from TLC’s Cake Boss.
