Taste Of The NFL Rallies Minnesota Vikings Fans For Hunger Relief
Two fall events with Minnesota Vikings to raise funds for Second Harvest Heartland.
WHAT: Taste of the NFL, the non-profit that unites the country’s best chefs with NFL greats for hunger relief, announces two local events combining food and football to raise funds for hunger relief in Minnesota. Taste of the NFL Mid-Season Rally: Taking place Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Bar Abilene, the free happy hour event features complimentary appetizers, Gallo wine samples and special appearances from Minnesota Vikings players Jamarca Sanford and Jasper Brinkley as well as former Vikings greats Randall McDaniel and Chuck Foreman. Guests will be encouraged to make a donation to Taste of the NFL’s Kick Hunger Challenge to benefit Second Harvest Heartland. Taste of the Vikings: On Monday, Nov. 19 at Mall of America, Taste of the Vikings gives fans the opportunity to sample food and wine from the Twin Cities best restaurants while rubbing shoulders with their favorite Minnesota Vikings and coaches. Tickets are $150 with proceeds going to benefit the Vikings Children’s Summer Lunch Program through Second Harvest Heartland. Participating restaurants include: Aramark, Bar Abilene, Bloomington ChopHouse, Bryant Lake Bowl, Centerplate, Crave, Dickey's Barbecue, Franklin Street Bakery, Grand Casino, Granite City, Joe's Crab Shack, Kokomo's Island Café, Red Stag Supper Club, Rosa Mexicano, Salut Bar Americain, Seven, Twin City Grill and Wildfire. According to Feeding America’s Map the Meal Gap project, more than 600,000 Minnesotans do not have enough food to eat. In the past 22 years, Taste of the NFL has distributed more than $14 million to food banks in NFL cities through its annual Super Bowl fundraiser. Additional hunger relief funds are raised through NFL team’s local events, such as Taste of the Vikings, and Taste of the NFL’s KickHungerChallenge.com—an online fundraiser that pits fans from all 32 NFL teams against each other in a “friendly competition” to raise money for food banks in NFL communities nationwide.
