CHEF MICHELLE BROWN
Jag's Steak & Seafood
5980 W Chester Rd
West Chester, OH 45069
Like a head coach orchestrating a final fourth quarter drive to win the game, Chef Michelle Brown thrives under pressure and lives for a challenge.
These qualities are what cultivated Michelle’s love for the culinary arts, which she executes by leading her restaurant, Jag's Steak and Seafood, through innovative menus, a welcoming kitchen culture and unparalleled service.
A mother, wife, philanthropist, mentor, coach, chef and owner at Jag’s Steak and Seafood, Michelle has defined and built Jag’s reputation as one of the region’spremier dining and entertainment venues since 2003 by crafting a menu of her own interpretations of classic steakhouse dishes and new, contemporary options. Born-and- raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Michelle now gets to practice her passion as majority owner of Jag's, located less than 20 miles away from her hometown where her younger self's favorite flavors and love of cooking for her friends inspire the Jag's concept to this day.
Since becoming majority owner in 2015, Michelle has brought Jag's new life through her own touches to the restaurant’s decor, entertainment offerings, and private dining. She spearheaded an interior renovation of the restaurant in 2017, which featured modern design elements with a classic, yet lively tone to accompany new tastes and a premier live music lineup featuring the best acts in southwest Ohio. Michelle says the key to providing the all-around outstanding Jag's experience is, "evolving and staying fresh." Jag's has done just that with Michelle at the helm, sticking to the core steak and seafood staples that bring in diners from miles across state lines, while also finding unique ways to delight, entertain, and educate guests through the culinary arts.
Michelle makes giving back to the community one of her upmost priorities by donating talent, time and resources to local charities, as well as mentoring female students in her kitchen. Beginning her career as a valet for the Bankers Club, a former historic private dining club in Downtown Cincinnati, Michelle fell in love with the kitchen environment and cuisine. She pursued a four-year mentorship with Bankers Club Executive Chef John York while attending college. York's guidance significantly shaped her growth as a chef and leader, which is something she hasn't forgotten and forges on as she actively mentor’s kitchen and service teams working their way through culinary school.
Michelle has had the distinct pleasure of being invited to cook at the James Beard House in New York City, currently serves as a brand ambassador for Certified Angus Beef and was the unanimous winner of the 2015 Cincinnati Food + Wine Classic Pork Chopped competition. Under Michelle's guidance, Jag’s has won the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence each year, Restaurant Marketer of the Year from Certified Angus Beef, Best Steakhouse in Ohio by Business Insider and Foursquare, and numerous awards from OpenTable and other outlets.
Michelle now lives just a few minutes from Jag's with her husband and two children, and will participate in her first "Taste of the NFL" in 2019
