Tommy Nobis, Atlanta Falcons
|
|
Known as “Mr. Falcon” because he was Atlanta’s first draft pick, Tommy
Nobis was NFL Rookie of the Year and played in the Pro Bowl five times
in the 10 years he wore the Falcons uniform. Heralded as one of the
greatest linebackers in college history, Tommy was a two-time
All-American at Texas, and his pro career from 1966 to 1976 made him
one of the most visible sports celebrities in Georgia. He is in the
Texas Hall of Fame, Georgia’s Sports Hall of Fame and the National
Collegiate Hall of Fame. Along with legends Bobby Jones, Hank Aaron and
Ty Cobb, he was named as one of Georgia’s top athletes of the century in 2000. |
