Chef Nancy Longo opened Pierpoint in 1989 to immediate raves, and the
praise has continued from such publications as Zagat Survey, Travel +
Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler, Saveur, The New York Times and from noted
food critic Mimi Sheraton, who gave Pierpoint three stars. Four years
ago, Nancy was a regional winner of the Iowa Pork Producers Council
recipe contest. After graduating from Baltimore's International
Culinary College in 1983, Nancy worked her way to restaurant chef and
owner. Along the way, she also began Chocolate Ware, which produces
edible chocolate silverware. She authored a cookbook, Predominately
Fish, in 1987, and in 1992, founded Save the Chesapeake to help raise
funds to clean Chesapeake Bay. Nancy has been the subject of an ABC
Prime Time Live segment and a guest on the Food Network. She was the
only chef to appear at the Congressional/HAACP hearings on safe
food-handling and seafood inspection. For the last 10 years, Nancy has
been preparing a dinner for Our Daily Bread soup kitchen in Baltimore,
where even Pope John Paul II came to serve a meal.
