New Orleans Food Bank Receives "Taste" Check

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans received more than $12,000 from the Taste of the NFL Super Bowl event in Phoenix as a result of the outstanding efforts of Bayona Chef Susan Spicer and New Orleans Saints Kevin Houser.  A 15-year veteran of the Taste of the NFL, Spicer has helped raised thousands of dollars for the New Orleans Food Bank.  In his second year with the Taste of the NFL, Houser's autographed helmet brought in the highest bid of all NFL players participating at the event. Presenting checks to food bank President Natalie Jayroe and Dori Orr, Director of Development are Chef Susan Spicer and Hunger Related Events board member Chris Clouser.

Taste of the NFL Chef Named Beard Foundation Winner


Chef Lachlan McKinnon-Patterson, representing the Denver Broncos at the "Taste of the NFL" Super Bowl event has won a Super Bowl of another kind.  McKinnon-Patterson was recently awarded "Best Chef: Southwest" by the James Beard Foundation.  This award is often referred to as “the Oscars of the food world.”  Chef-owner of Frasca Food and Wine in Boulder, CO McKinnon-Patterson has accumulated numerous accolades during his career including being named one of Food and Wine Magazine's Best New Chefs in 2005.

 

 

 

"Save the Date" for Upcoming NFL Local Events

Eight NFL teams held local "Taste of the NFL" events in 2007, raising more than $1.1 million to help tackle hunger in their communities.  This year, the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the Green Bay Packers and the Carolina Panthers are joining the Bengals, Browns, Cowboys, Giants, Jaguars, Jets, Rams and Vikings in this effort.  Check out all of the upcoming dates so you don't miss any food, fun and football!
